Installing Wall Stickers
What material are Wall Stickers made from?
All of our Wall Stickers are printed and cut from removable adhesive, which makes them perfect to remove and re-apply.
What size room would an average pack fill?
Our larger wall sticker kits such as Farmyard Fun, Princess Fairies & Jungle Adventure will easily decorate an entire room; we also have smaller packs available such as Butterfly Breezes & Clay Construction for customers who want a more subtle effect.
How do I apply them?
Every single decal is individually cut so it’s easy for you to simply peel the Wall Stickers off the backing sheet and apply them to a dry, clean and smooth surface.
Preparation:
- Ensure your surface is clean and dry.
- Ensure your surface is smooth. Textured surfaces are not recommended.
- Sugar soap can be used to ensure older surfaces are cleaned correctly.
- Freshly painted walls should be left for at least 2 - 3 weeks to dry and outgas.
Please note: You may have trouble keeping your stickers up on the wall if you have Teflon, Silicone or Wash & Wear paint . These types of paints are designed to be cleaned easily and to repel anything from sticking to them.
Application:
- Lay your Wall Sticker kit on a flat space and plan how you would like to use them.
- Once you have decided how you would like to decorate, gently peel one of the Wall Stickers off the backing paper.
- Slowly apply the sticker to a smooth, clean and dry surface. Lay it down gently to start with, so you can stand back and make sure it is straight and in perfect position. If it is not in the right place simply gently peel it back up and reapply it.
- Once you have worked out the perfect position smooth over the entire surface with the back of your hand.
- To ensure that the entire sticker adheres to the surface, you will need to get a soft cloth and rub it firmly over the entire Wall Sticker.
- Repeat with your remaining Wall Stickers until you have you finished your masterpiece and then admire your talents.
How long will they last?
If treated with care your wall stickers will last for many years. Simply clean them with a soft damp cloth if they need it.
Why wont my Wall Stickers stick!
There are various reasons that removable wall stickers wont stick, here are some of the causes.
- If you have recently painted the walls the standard curing times is approx 2-3 weeks, however in winter please allow up to 6 weeks for your walls to completely dry before applying anything to the surface.
- Walls need to be thoroughly cleaned before applying any product. Sugar soap is a great product to remove grime, grease, dust & any build up that is present on the walls.
- Out gassing is where a surface emits molecules of chemicals into the air, which are present in most paints. This is when a room has been freshly painted and you can still pick-up the residual paint smell weeks after the surface was painted. There are many eco-friendly paints now on the market that do not outgas. Boasting to have significant health benefits, these paints are much more compatible with vinyl wall art, as there are no chemicals reacting with the adhesive.
- If a room has been painted with Teflon, Silicone or Wash & Wear paint you may have trouble keeping your stickers up on the wall. The types of paints are designed to be cleaned easily and to repel anything from sticking to them.
- Wall stickers are not designed to stick to concrete, cement, tongue & groove or rendered walls nor walls that have been painted in suede effects and other rough surface paints, these surfaces are not completely smooth & do not allow sufficient surface area to stick to the wall.
Rooms that are very humid or very hot will soften the adhesive on the wall stickers.
Handy Hint:
FACT: Room Art can occasionally peel.
WHY: This may be due to Teflon or wash and wear paints, surfaces not cleaned properly, the weather constantly changing room temperatures, applying the kits to textured surfaces.
SOLUTION: A quick and easy solution to this is the humble glue stick. All you have to do is simply apply the glue to the back of the wall sticker, press against the wall and apply more glue on the top and edges, pushing firmly as you go.
STILL REMOVABLE? Once dried, just clean the glue around the edge of the stickers with a damp cloth. When you want to remove the kit, the decals will come off easily with warm soapy water.
Can I remove them?
All of our Vinyl Wall Stickers are totally removable and they will not mark the wall when they have been peeled off.
